It is with deep regret that we must announce the closing of Bella Bambini. The Consumer Produce Safety Improvement Act was passed in August 2008 and goes into effect on February 10, 2009. It was passed in response to recent lead paint scares involving imported toys. Due to this new law, it will be illegal to sell any children's clothing without having each component of each item tested and certified. These testing procedures are extremely expensive and many small business owners are left with no choice but to close. All items, even items such as fabric, thread, etc. that do not normally contain lead, are required to be tested. I have many items in my inventory that I need to sell on or before February 10th. I will be listing as many items as I can at drastically reduced prices on eBay to try to recover some of the cost of my inventory. Hopefully, this law will be repealed, a more effective law will replace it and Bella Bambini will be able to reopen sometime in the future. Thank you to all my customers! Here are some excellent links that describe the impact that this law is having on Americans: Click here for a great link about CPSIA National Bankruptcy Day Web Site Here is a great 3 part video on You Tube explaining how this law will impact a typical small business: Rick Woldenburg Response to CPSA on CPSIA - 1 of 3 Rick Woldenburg Response to CPSA on CPSIA - 2 of 3 Rick Woldenburg Response to CPSA on CPSIA - 3 of 3
